Day Sixteen

Today, I worked on a bit of everything. During Digital Media, I continued to work on the animations I would use in my final product (a public video). Additionally, I reached out to the other admin member I’d been referred to in the email I received yesterday (Day Fifteen) considering my request for a fundraising opportunity. I explained that I hadn’t been ready for the event very early on in April and asked whether it was possible for me to have one within the span of the next two weeks. I received a prompt response informing me that unfortunately, this would not be a possibility. However, I could host an educational event the coming Monday or Tuesday. I decided that this was the best workaround (especially since one of the goals of my project had been to raise awareness as well) and requested the time slot of Monday during lunch, as well as more logistical details.

I also began to look for submission opportunities for the video I’d been working on. However, I found that there weren’t many public-facing, healthcare-related submission outlets that aligned with the goals behind my production. Before coming to any final stance, I decided I would speak with my Digital Media teacher in my next class to discuss any possible appropriate opportunities. I did decide that I would likely do an article as well (regardless of whether I did a video). Finding aligning outlets for this was much easier: I found three opinion op-ed/guest essays for legitimate and well-reputed organizations organizations.

Total Fundraising Status: $350 🌊
