Day Fifteen
Today was high on broadening the reach of my fundraising. My dad sent out my message template to his workplace community, and not only did some of them contribute, but they also shared with their personal social circles.
I also went from door to door in my own neighborhood (to the houses of those who hadn’t already made a donation), handing out flyers and encouraging them to share and donate. It was valuable for communication-skill building, because I had to improvise for different people in different situations (for instance, some were busy when they answered the door, so I shortened my explanation and requested them to look at the flyer when they had a chance). One family even took an extra leaflet so that their child could put one up at school.
Additionally, I made my second social media post, which was “different but the same” from the first one. I acknowledged the fact that we were gaining momentum and appreciated everyone who had contributed so far, but also pointed out that there was still much to be done and once more directed people to the GoFundMe link in my bio.
Finally, I received a response to my email to school admin from the previous day (Day Fourteen). I was told that my post would get put up (and it was shortly afterward). In terms of my request for a fundraising opportunity, I was told to reach out to another admin member and plan to do so tomorrow.
I’m excited as I see how this initiative is branching out further and further!
