Day Eleven

Today, I both took some exciting first steps and continued to build on work that I’d already begun. I carried on with my animations for my video during Digital Media class, layering my own drawings over reference images from online.

Additionally, I posted my first update on Instagram requesting donations. I used a catchy quote about what makes the rare disease community special from one of my interviews to draw people in, then went into logistics: explaining the issue and scope of rare diseases, summarizing the work done by my three selected nonprofits: CFRI, SCDF, and the ALS Association, and linking the GoFundMe in my bio so that anyone interested could contribute.

I also realized I’d forgotten to request donations from a big group in my personal social circle: my extended family! I sent them a text almost identical to the template that I’d messaged in my neighborhood chat (but slightly informalized since it was only going to family).

Also in the vein of donations, I asked a friend who had already done so how I could post on the Middle School Info page. In my post, I plan to explain my project in a nutshell, why the cause is so important, and request people to make a contribution — but to accomplish all of that, I need to figure out the technological logistics of a digital update. Waiting on a response from her!
